The Washington-Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Committee recently presented Vidant Beaufort Hospital and the local physician practices with the Building a Better Tomorrow Today Award. This award recognizes business and organizations that generously give back to their community through philanthropic efforts. Vidant Beaufort Hospital and the local Vidant physician practices support numerous nonprofit organizations through donations and their Community Benefit Grants program, as well as through their participation on many area nonprofit boards and committees. Vidant Beaufort also offers free health-awareness initiatives such as Pink Power for breast cancer awareness and Heart Truth for women’s heart health. The hospital, the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center and local physician practices also offer free breast-cancer screenings, free skin-cancer screenings, health and wellness fairs, educational programs related to early detection and prevention of cancer and chronic disease. Vidant Beaufort is also committed to the development of our county’s future workforce by serving as a clinical rotation site for many health careers, and annually participates in Job Shadow Day.
