The 2016 Northeast Regional Ag Expo was hosted at the Senator Bob Martin Eastern Agricultural Center in Williamston on Nov. 3.

This event began in 2013 as a partnership between Beaufort County Schools and the Beaufort County Farm Bureau. Since then the event was extended to other counties in the region as an opportunity to expose participating high school students to the many agriculture-related career possibilities in eastern North Carolina.

Emphasis is placed on education after high school (college or career training), agriculture safety, and exploring the diversity in agriculture-related careers.

Tyrrell County Schools Agricultural teacher, Josh Davenport, took 11 Career and Technical Education (CTE) students from Columbia Early College High School to this event.

The students had the opportunity to visit with representatives from various colleges and universities, local and national agribusiness suppliers, as well as see hands-on demonstrations in Ag. Mechanics, Animal Science, Horticulture, and Agribusiness.

The Tyrrell County Schools CTE program extended its thanks to the Tyrrell County Farm Bureau for providing this opportunity for local students to attend this year.
