Chocowinity Middle School fifth-graders attended the recent East Carolina University production of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” Grace Elks explained, “My favorite part of the field trip was the play because it was dark and quiet. We were close to the front, too.” Mary Grace Whitley commented, “My favorite part of the play was the battle scene because they defeated the witch.” At the conclusion of the production, the ECU actors remained in character and walked among the audience members. Following the theater production, the fifth-graders were given a tour of the ECU Theatre department. “The tour was neat,” Cutter Williams said. “We got to see a little bit of the campus.” Some of the students were experiencing live theater for the first time. “I just couldn’t believe how great the costumes were! When the actors came on stage, I thought I was in Hollywood,” Chaneasia Boone said.
