CHOCOWINITY — Heather Black, a family nurse practitioner, joined Vidant Family Medicine–Chocowinity, located at 740 Bragaw Lane, on Oct. 31.

Black earned a master’s degree in nursing as a family nurse practitioner from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Her areas of interests are chronic disease management, geriatric care, diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease.

“I am excited to join the practice because I am looking forward to being close to home and practicing in the community where I live,” Black said. “It has always been my wish to work in eastern North Carolina and ‘give back’ to the region where I grew up, especially because rural areas struggle with access to care. I am also excited to join a great team of nurses, nurse practitioners and physicians and, most importantly, establishing relationships with patients who I will be able to care for long term.”

Black joins Drs. Jessica Triche and Nancy Brous, as well as family nurse practitioner Tracey Respess.
