Washington residents invited to ‘Shine a Light’

Saturday evening, the Beaufort County Health Department hosted the Shine a Light on Diabetes 5K Glow Run along the waterfront in downtown Washington to raise awareness for the disease, one of the most common in Beaufort County. Awards were given to the top-three male and female runners, as well as the top-two male and female runners in the following age groups: 12 and under; 13-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69 and 70 and over. The course began near the North Carolina Estuarium, ran along Main Street, over the bridge near Havens Gardens and looped back around via Riverside Drive.
