1 arrested in marijuana bust

Tyrrell Sheriff Darryl Liverman released the following statement on Nov. 10:

“On Wednesday, August 24th, the Tyrrell County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation conducted a marijuana eradication in Tyrrell County. A North Carolina Highway Patrol helicopter was used to conduct an air search of Tyrrell County to locate illegal marijuana growing in Tyrrell County. As a result of the search six marijuana plants ranging in size from 5 1/2 feet tall to 13 feet tall were located off New Lands Road. Deputies and agents responded to the area and seized the plants. As a result of the investigation Ashley Borst, 52, of Columbia was arrested and charged with felony manufacturing a schedule VI controlled substance, felony possession of schedule VI controlled substance and obstruction of justice. Sgt. Sawyer was arresting officer assisted by deputies Davenport, Mauffray, Shively, Roughton and Davenport. Borst was released on bond.”
