The Saturday night Jamboree Christmas party was held recently at the Redmen’s Lodge in Washington. Registrar Carolyn Jefferson and Tillie Braddy signed in 149 clients with loving assistant from volunteers Kathy Scape and Neta Mercer.
While caring volunteer Russell Jefferson kept watch at the door, DJ Redmen member Kenneth Beacham played music for dancing and listening pleasure.
Jamboree President Marlene Sprouse and Elwood Sprouse led the activities and led in singing “Happy Birthday” to December honorees. Other regular volunteers included Michael and Kaitlyn Cutler, Joyce Carawan, Martha Seigman, Tine Woolard, Jim Sadler, Larry and Pat Seigman and Kathy Lilly.
First Christian Church members and friends served delicious refreshments following a prayer offered by Carol Waters. Those helping with serving included: Clifton and Betsy Toler, Clyde and Marian Roberson, Ray and Judy Kennedy, Mitch and Kim Woolard, and Pete and Pat Jones.
The group sang “Here Comes Santa Claus” to welcome a special visitor who gave the clients their Christmas gifts for being good all year.
The Saturday Night Jamboree would like to take this opportunity to thank all volunteers, organizations, businesses and churches for all of their generous assistance during the year and to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. A special thanks goes to Doug Whitehead for helping with the special guest (Santa Claus).
The next Jamboree will be held Jan. 14, 2017, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Redmen’s Lodge. All mentally/physically-challenged residents and all volunteers are encouraged to attend and help welcome in the New Year.
The Saturday night Jamboree is a non-profit organization and all donations should be made out to: The Saturday Night Jamboree and mailed to 410 Northwood Road, Washington, NC 27889, or contact Marlene Sprouse at 252-946-4350.
