Financial-services firm Edward Jones was named a 2016 Best Workplace for Parents, ranking No. 2 on the list, which is based on anonymous associate feedback and on the benefits that help parents participate fully in their organizations, according to the Beaufort County Edward Jones financial advisors.
The ranking considered results from more than 120,000 surveys of U.S. employees across a range of industries. Edward Jones excelled in parents’ assessment of their companies’ fairness, camaraderie, professional opportunities and other factors essential to a rewarding career.
“We are proud to have created a family friendly workplace that offers flexible work options and our new parental leave policy for moms, dads and caregivers,” said Edward Jones managing partner Jim Weddle. “As a growing firm looking for top talent in the field and home offices, we encourage associates to balance their work with their other life priorities. Ultimately we believe happier associates deliver a better experience to our clients.”
Edward Jones puts its values into practice. In 2016, the firm implemented a new policy that offers a 16-week paid parental leave for natural and adoptive primary caregivers and two weeks of paid leave for full-time, eligible secondary caregivers.
Edward Jones understands that the benefit of a trusting and supportive workplace for parents extends to their colleagues, as well. Research from Great Place to Work has found that high-trust workplaces often experience lower turnover and faster revenue growth than their peers.
“Supportive colleagues, trusting managers and equal opportunity for advancement: the strengths of the Best Workplaces for Parents benefit all of their employees,” said Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. “The culture of professional respect at these companies is especially valuable for mothers and fathers as they meet the simultaneous challenges of work and family life.”
The Best Workplaces for Parents is one of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work and Fortune based on employee survey feedback from Great Place to Work-certified organizations.
Edward Jones also was ranked as a best workplace for women, millennials, Gen X-ers, those approaching retirement, camaraderie and flexibility.
