GREENVILLE — Conley guard Mackenna Batts poured in a game-high 26 points to help the sixth-seeded Vikings upend No. 3 Washington, 50-44, on Tuesday in the first round of the Pitt County girls’ holiday tournament.
Batts scored 17 of her points in the first half as Conley (3-6) ran out to a lead as big as 14 points. After trailing by 10 with just more than four minutes to play, the Lady Pack (9-2) used a 12-4 run to whittle Conley’s advantage down to two with a minute remaining. But Batts, who was a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line, pushed the lead back to four with a pair of freebies, and a late bucket by Elana Fuller made the final margin.
Tierra Wiggins led Washington with 14, 10 of which came in the fourth quarter. Daria Jones chipped in 14.
Fuller was the only other Conley player in double figures with 13.
