- HOLIDAY TRADITION: Stuart O'Neal and his daughter Riley, 8, ring the bells outside Walmart during this year's Salvation Army donation campaign.
SANTA IN WASHINGTON: A vintage Santa, perhaps once a department store display, adds a jolly touch to South Market Antiques.
From the traditional parade in early December to holiday productions hosted by the Arts of the Pamlico and Turnage Theatre, the Christmas season is a busy one in the Original Washington.
Local stores and homes are decked out in their holiday finery and the merry ringing of Salvation Army bells add a festive touch to the setting. Washington residents know just how to celebrate the season, and it’s hard to be a Grinch or a Scrooge in a city known for its Christmas spirit.
MAGICAL ELF: A delightful elf keeps watch over a collection of silver and crystal items displayed at Stewart’s Jewelry Store.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
WELCOME: Christmas dolls welcome passers-by from the window of G.W. Walker & Sons.
TINSEL & FRIENDS: Cast and crew of “Tinsel Almost Sorta Saves Christmas” take a break from rehearsing for the holiday comedy presented on the stage of the historic Turnage Theatre.
