Merlin D. Steiner

Merlin David Steiner, 78, of 1509 Mainstem Road, Pantego, died Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton.
Born in Orville, Ohio, December 17, 1938, he was the son of the late Willis Wilbert and Celesta Nussbaum Steiner. He was married to the former Lena Glick who preceded him in death.
He was a member of Providence Mennonite Church. He was owner and operator of Steiner Custom Harvesting, and he was known for his strong work ethic.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Hope Mennonite Church in Pantego. Dale Keffer will officiate. Burial will follow in the family plot in the Steiner family cemetery.
Surviving are four sons, Steven Steiner and wife Mary of Pantego, Glenn Steiner and wife Sue of Stokes, Richard Steiner and wife Rose of Margarettsville, NC, Mark Steiner and wife Dana of Sutherland, IA; seven daughters, Phyllis S. Marshall and husband Ronald of Buckingham, VA, Rena S. Pierce and husband Ray of Edenton, Elsie S. Stoltzfus and husband Naaman of Gladys, VA, Glenda S. Yoder and husband James, Wanda S. Hershey and husband Wesley, both of Pantego, June S. Tarkington and husband Steve of Roper, Lina S. Newberry of Pantego; four brothers, Clair Steiner and wife Martha of Hendersonville, NC, Daniel Steiner and wife Mary, Jessie Steiner and wife Dorothy, both of Millersburg, OH, Jonathan Steiner and wife Ellen of Clarion, PA; five sisters, Luella S. Geiser and husband Herb of Apple Creek, PA, Mildred S. Coblentz and husband Jacob of Grandin, MO, Arvada S. Beachy of Holmesville, OH, Irene S. Smith and husband Eddie of Loyal, WI, Katheryn S. Miller and husband Dewey of Myerstown, PA; fifty-six grandchildren and thirty-six great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, John Paul Steiner and a son-in-law, Phillip Newberry.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm at Hope Mennonite School, 680 Mainstem Road, Pantego, NC 27860.
