Gregory H. Hornbuckle

Mr. Gregory Hugh Hornbuckle, age 57, a resident of Hobgood, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, at UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at Bayview Community Church, officiated by Pastor Jessie Blalock. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Jay Morgan Jr., Dustin Morgan, Rodney Braddy Jr., Tommy Ormond, Landon Ormond and Mike Swanner will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Hornbuckle was born in Lumberton on April 29, 1959, son of Dorothy Taylor Hornbuckle and the late Fred Hornbuckle. On Oct. 27, 1998, he married the former Marcia Jo Letchworth. Mr. Hornbuckle was a minister in several churches for more than 25 years. The past nine years he served as the minister at Bayview Community Church. For the past three years, he was also owner/operator of Strings of Music Guitar Shop in Tarboro. Mr. Hornbuckle loved riding his Harley Davidson, working on old cars, and making something new out of something old.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia, of the home, his children: Meredith Hornbuckle and Cody Hornbuckle, both of Hobgood, Mandy Coffield of Hamilton, Heather Whaley and husband Kevin of Williamston; his brother: Freddie Hornbuckle and wife Joan of Lumberton; his sisters: Debbie Brisson and husband Scott of Myrtle Beach and Cynthia Mauldin and husband Randy of Lumberton, and his mother: Dorothy Hornbuckle. His is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Evan Coffield, Camden Coffield, Taylor Coffield, Carson Coffield, Christian Elis Coffield, Abbey Whaley, Hannah Whaley and Sarah Whaley.
The family will receive friends 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday at Bayview Community Church.
