Pets of the week: Jan. 14-15, 2017

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the shelter will be closed Saturday through Monday. They will reopen on Tuesday with normal hours.

Those interested in adopting a pet should inquire at the Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Control Facility, 3931 U.S. Highway 264 East, from 1 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturdays. Because of overcrowded conditions, the animals listed are only available as indicated.

All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. Mittens

Looking very dapper in his shorthair coat of jet black and pristine white, this 2-year- old, male sweetheart of a tuxedo cat is full of love and affection! Mittens loves being petted and showered with attention. Of course, he wears white mittens plus a white bib; his handsome face features a tiny white butterfly under his nose, gorgeous whiskers and hazel eyes. With his character of a friendly, inquisitive, calm and gentle, all-round great cat, Mittens will make a wonderful addition in a variety of good forever, loving home settings.

Ozzie Pawsborn

This approximately 1-year-old, black and tan hound/retriever-mix is a smart, happy, people-loving fellow. A medium-size, good-looking dog with a shorthair coat, Ozzie Pawsborn loves affection, attention and has a fun-loving personality. Having lots of energy, he wants to play, play, play. He will do best with an active family and owner(s) willing to give him love, care, exercise in a fenced area or on leash, and basic obedience training. Ozzie Pawsborn deserves a good, loving forever home where he can be a faithful companion and pet.
