Frances H. Lassiter

Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Hall Lassiter, age 88, of Greenville, NC, and formerly of Washington, died Monday, February 6, 2017 at her home. Mrs. Lassiter was born on December 17, 1928 in Newark, New Jersey to the late Robert Anselom Hall and the late Alice Darden Hall. A graveside service will be held at Oakdale Cemetery on Saturday, February 11 at 10:00 am and will be followed by a celebration of life service at First Baptist Church in Washington at 11:00 am. Family and friends are welcome at the graveside service and the celebration of life service.

Mrs. Lassiter is preceded in death by the love of her life, Dr. Tally Lassiter. They were married on September 17, 1955. Surviving include two sons, Dr. Tally Lassiter Jr. and wife Jocelyn Wittstein of Cooperstown, NY, Dr. Fred Lassiter and wife, Liz of Charlotte, NC; three daughters, Jane Boahn and husband Chuck, of Blounts Creek, NC, Nancy Rowe and husband Mike of Bath, NC, Elizabeth Thomas and husband Mike of Southern Pines, NC; grandchildren: Kip Boahn and wife, Elsi, Will Boahn and wife, Mandie, Erin Boahn Massie and husband, Patrick, Tally Lassiter III, India Lassiter, Regina Lassiter, Chloe Lassiter, Colin Lassiter, Anna Lassiter, Catherine Lassiter, Laura Lassiter, Stacy Brooks and husband Milton, Lauren Rowe, Lindsay Gurganus and husband Russ, Katie Thomas, Rob Thomas; and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Hall Burcal.

Mrs. Lassiter attended the University of Virginia where she earned a nursing degree in 1954. She was a homemaker and a member of the Washington Garden Club, Washington Park Garden Club, O. Henry Book Club, First Baptist Church choir and the Cypress Glen choir. She was a choir director in Montgomery County and Washington for several years and had a passion for music and education. Mrs. Lassiter loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tally and Frances Lassiter Teaching Fund, a component fund of the North Carolina Community Foundation, 3737 Glenwood Avenue, Suite 460, Raleigh, NC 27608 or to the First Baptist Church of Washington, NC Music Fund, 113 Harvey Street, Washington, NC.

Reverend Jay Martin and Reverend Greg Barmer will officiate the services.
