Terry Wayne Brooks

Terry Wayne Brooks, 61, of Washington, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

A private service with military honors will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 in the Veteran’s Garden at Gethsemane Memorial Park on Highway 24. Terry served honorably in the U.S. Army.

Terry is a native of Washington, where he graduated from Washington High School. Terry relocated and made his home in Morehead City when in 1986 he married Terry Lynn Nichols.

He often said, “Living in Morehead City were the best days of my life.”

Terry spent many hours on his commercial fishing boat, shrimping, while he attended Carteret Community College. He earned his associate degree, in repository therapy, from Carteret Community College. Terry was named student of the year. Later, Terry owned and operated Terry Brooks Home Improvement.

Terry is survived by his mother, Doris Brooks Karnowski; brother, Braxton Brooks Jr.; and sister, Brenda Ingram.

Terry was preceded in death by his father, Braxton Brooks Sr.; and sister, Patricia Clark.

Terry was a gentle man with a kind heart. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
