School assistance in Ghana

After the mud walls of the Mafi Zongo Basic School gave way in 2010, the primary school and its 230 students had to move to a structure that was little more than a thatched-roof shed behind a local church.  “When it rained, teaching and learning came to a standstill,” said Fred Takyi, member of the Rotary Club of Ho, of the Volta region. The club stepped up with a $15,000 grant to build a two-room concrete block school building that was unveiled in July. “The children were really excited about the new facility,” said Takyi adding that the new school has improved student attendance as well. Another example of Rotarians doing good in the world.
