On Jan. 7, three Northeast Elementary School eighth-graders competed and won seats in the Eastern All-District Band. Gracie Morris (clarinet), Randy Segura (clarinet) and Nick Jordan (saxophone) have earned spots in this prestigious ensemble, a testament to their hard work, dedication and musical ability. This annual event draws more than 600 seventh- and eighth-grade students from all over the eastern region of North Carolina to compete for spots in an honors band that represents the best of middle school musicians. They met again to rehearse with the other winners on Feb. 3-4, and performed a concert at ECU’s Wright Auditorium on Feb. 4.
