Freeze warning issued for eastern NC

The National Weather Service has issued its second freeze warning this week.
Temperatures are expected to fall into the mid- to low-20s tonight and into the early morning. This hard freeze will kill or severely damage any early growing or tender vegetation that is left unprotected. Temperatures are expected to fall into the 20s again Sunday night.
The average last freeze is not until late March for most of the region. However, the warm, late-winter temperatures this season have led to early blooming crops, plants and trees, making them susceptible to freeze damage.
