Thursday night, the Turnage Theatre will feature a rousing mix of piano entertainment and audience participation — Dueling Pianos is coming to town.
The event, which kicks off at 7 p.m., is a dual fundraiser for the Washington-Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce and Arts of the Pamlico, according to Catherine Glover, executive director of the Chamber.
Casey Cotton, of Fayetteville, and Jonathan Ansley, of Myrtle Beach, will take the stage as the “dueling pianists.” The evening will feature songs from the ’80s, ’90s and more modern hits, according to the event page.
“Spread the word. It’s your show. An all-request, high-energy dueling piano show for the masses,” Cotton wrote. “Let’s shake, rattle and roll.”
Doors open at 6 p.m. for light refreshments, and tickets can be purchased at the door for $20 per person, plus tax.
Glover said Dueling Pianos is part of a larger push for collaboration on fundraising events in the community.
“Just a fun night entertaining people. We’re all looking at different avenues in trying to partner more in different events,” she said. “It’s good for both organizations.”
So far, more than 100 tickets have been sold, but Glover said there is plenty of room for more to attend.
“We just want people to know that they can buy them at the door,” she said.
The Cotton-Ansley duo is part of the larger organization Dueling Pianos International, which hosts similar events all over the world, from Texas to Italy.
“They involve the audience completely,” Glover said. “The larger the crowd, you know, the more fun.”
Dueling Pianos is scheduled for 7 p.m. today at the Turnage Theatre, 150 W. Main St., Washington. Tickets will be sold at the door.
