Lady Pack clobbers Northern Nash

ROCKY MOUNT — Abbigail Tucker fanned nine in a complete-game shutout as Washington pounded Northern Nash, 15-0. She gave up just three hits in the five-inning game. She also fared well at the plate with two runs and two RBI.

Hailey Harris, Meghan Moore, Haley Witham and Meghan Horton each scored multiple runs, too.

The Lady Pack jumped on its host with a run in the top of the first. The girls added three more in the second before exploding for six in the third to take a commanding 10-0 lead.

In addition to notching 13 hits, Washington was also able to exploit six Northern Nash errors.

The win propels the Lady Pack into Tuesday’s 2-A Eastern Plains Conference opener at Farmville Central on Tuesday.

Northside suffers first loss

PINETOWN — Conference foe Pamlico County scored three runs in each of the final two frames to edge Northside, 8-7, on Friday evening. After giving up their lead in the top of the sixth, the Panthers scored four runs in the bottom of the frame, but couldn’t stave off the Hurricanes in the late stages of the game.

James Barrow led the way with two hits for two RBI. Zach Woolard, Braedon Burbage and Ethan Cosentino all had a hit apiece, too. Parker Boyd scored three runs. Reg Bishop also scored twice.

Zach Griffin started on the bump. He rolled through the first five frames, only conceding two runs on three hits. Northside used a combination of Woolard, Bishop and Tanner Alligood in the final two innings.

The Panthers will look to bounce back Wednesday at East Carteret.

Lady Panthers scoot past Pamlico County

PINETOWN — Northside got hits from four players and capitalized on three Pamlico County errors to pick up its second conference win, 3-0, on Friday. Rachel Lang and the defense behind her kept the visiting Lady Hurricanes at bay throughout.

Lang gave up no runs on four hits and struck out six batters. Rylie Newman scored two of the Lady Panthers’ runs. Whitney Cromwell and Lang each batted in a run, too.

Northside will look to extend its perfect start in conference play when it starts a two-game road swing Tuesday at Lejeune.

Washington falls at Edenton

EDENTON — Edenton scored two goals in the second half to top Washington, 3-2, on Friday. The Lady Aces scored once in the first half while keeping the Lady Pack off the scoreboard.

Sydney Edwards and Anna Frisbie each found the back of the net in the second half, but it proved not enough to take care of the Lady Aces.

Washington will play back-to-back games at home early next week, starting with Greene Central on Monday.
