Robert L. Cahoon

Robert Lawrence Cahoon, 69, of Swan Quarter, died unexpectedly, Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital, Washington.

He was born in Hyde County, April 10, 1947 and was the son of the late Gilbert Lawrence and Audrey Purdy Cahoon.

He served his country during the Vietnam Conflict with the United States Army. He enjoyed farming, especially driving the tractor and seating on his front porch. He worked as a bridge tender for the Corps of Engineers, as a carpenter, commercial fisherman, and he was owner and operator of Robert’s Produce for 30 years.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at the family plot in Soule Cemetery. Steve Bryan will officiate.

Surviving is a son Chad L. Cahoon and wife Stephanie of Engelhard; two grandchildren, Rhett J. Cahoon and Mikayla D. Cahoon, both of Engelhard; a brother, Michael Cahoon and wife Billi of Swan Quarter; a sister, Linda C. Garner and husband Randall of Ohio.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Mac Cahoon.

The family will gather with friends at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Cahoon, 17654 US Hwy 264, Swan Quarter, NC.
