On March 21, a student in Melissa Zurawski’s second-grade class at John Cotten Tayloe Elementary School received a special surprise! As 7-year-old Jaylin Lewis was working on his computer program during power hour, he received a tap on the shoulder. When he turned around, he saw his mother who has been deployed since June 2015. The reunion was bittersweet. Spc. Tianesha Jennette, a Washington native, returned to her hometown after being stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas, from June 2015 to February 2017. Jennette has been deployed in Camp Behring, Kuwait, on special operation Spartan Shield. She has been in the U.S. Army since 2013. She graduated from Washington High School in 2009. The students and staff at John Cotten Tayloe also had a special surprise for Jennette. As she walked into JCT, she was greeted with “thank you” cards and signs for her services. Washington and JCT welcome Jennette back with loving arms, support and appreciation for her time spent serving our country!
