From the Way Off Broadway Players

The Way Off Broadway Players of Belhaven will present the farce “Dearly Beloved” by Jesse Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Charlie Smith Community Building.

This play is very similar to the recently produced play, “Dearly Departed.” It is a satire about the South and the little eccentricities of the region. While watching the play, the audience will recognize many references to family relationships, stereotypical characters and tradition. The play deals with a family having a wedding for its daughter Tina Jo. These special characters appear: the missing couple; the pushy mom; the overbearing mother-in-law to be; the local sheriff; the shy daughter who is the local cow inseminator; a drunk boyfriend; the wayward aunt; and the cheap aunt. There is much misunderstanding and confusion.

The following are the cast and crew: Jewel Cook, Macy Morgan, Lindsey Duke, Vicki Armstrong, Dean Armstrong, Mary Wahab, Calamity Gibbs, Zachary Stevens, Aaron Stevens, Mike Gibbs, Mara Coltrain, Katherine Williams, Victoria Gibbs and George Wahab.

Admission is $10. For reservations, call 252-943-3796.
