A to Z Doll Club prepares for show

The A to Z Doll Club met at the Pizza Inn in Washington on March 27. Those present included President Diana Cates, Shirley Woolard, Catherine Fulford, Patricia Harris, Betty Ross, Joyce Tucker, Marguerite Ferry, Joyce Carawan, Gloria Windley, Donna and Briley Hodges and Martha Seighman.

Cates welcomed everyone and thanked them for coming. Carawan asked the blessing, the minutes were tabled, and Woolard gave the treasurer’s report.

Birthday girl Fulford (March 5) was serenaded and received a card. Reports were given regarding the Doll Show on April 8: a TV spot on the 5 p.m. WITN evening news on March 27; the Doll Show featured on the Community Service page of the Washington Daily News on March 29; articles in WDN.

Cates announced set up times for the event: from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 7:30 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday, with everyone ready to greet the public at opening time at 10 a.m. Saturday, at the Tar Heel Variety Theater in Chocowinity.

Vail Rumley from the Washington Daily News came and interviewed several members about dolls and doll collecting. She took individual photos for the Good Morning spots on WDN front pages and a photograph of the A to Z Doll Club officers.

Show and Tell: Participants included Woolard, Ross, Cates, Hodges, Seighman and Windley. Door prizes were distributed, Cates announced the next meeting of the A to Z Doll Club would be April 24 at Pizza Inn, and the meeting was adjourned.
