The National Weather Service has issued a burn advisory through 6 p.m. today.

The combination of gusty west winds and low relative humidities will lead to an increased fire danger across eastern North Carolina today. People are advised to use extreme caution is conducting any burns today.

Winds nearing 20 mph will continue through the late afternoon, tapering off around 9 p.m.
