The Down East Seniors Club held its April 12 meeting at the Blind Center of North Carolina in Washington. President Stewart Rumley led the meeting. Charles Smith led the singing of “God Bless America” and gave the invocation. Dick Paul provided humor.

Rumley introduced Amy Dellinger with Fitness Unlimited. Dellinger said the goal of Fitness Unlimited is to help each client become the best health-wise they can be. She has been with Fitness Unlimited in Washington since 2011. Her primary function is to run the weight loss program, but she also fills in many other areas. The two main parts of any fitness regimen are eating healthy foods and moving enough to keep fit. When beginning a fitness program, one should start slow and exercise for short periods of time and then gradually build up to longer times. Having the proper mindset is the most important way to keep the proper balance between physical and emotional health. The SilverSneakers fitness program is available for older people and is paid for by some insurance plans.

Charles Smith won the 50/50 drawing.
