Every day is Earth Day at Goose Creek State Park

Earth Day is celebrated annually on Saturday as a show of support for environmental protection efforts.
But at Beaufort County’s Goose Creek State Park, every day is Earth Day.
This year’s official celebration includes an Earth Day Scavenger Hunt hosted by the park. Festivities begin at 11 a.m. at the visitor center with a discussion of “Leave No Trace” ethics. Visitors are then invited to take part in a fun and interactive scavenger hunt. All ages are welcome; sturdy shoes are recommended and participants should arrive prepared to take a walk through the woods.
Next weekend, on April 29, a hike along the Mallard Creek boardwalk is planned for 2 p.m., according to the park’s schedule of events.
Recent programs hosted by the park have focused on snakes, bears, insects and turtles. Hikes along the park’s network of trails are also offered on a regular basis.
