GREENVILLE — Sound Rivers’ popular Kids River Fest, scheduled for Saturday, will be postponed until a later date due to the projected flooding of the City of Greenville’s River Park North from the Tar River. The event will likely be rescheduled in May or June.
The Tar River is projected to crest at 19.6 feet on Saturday, flooding much of the activity areas of River Park North, the event site. The river crest, potentially the sixth highest on record, will render much of the park’s facilities inaccessible.
The third-annual Kids River Fest was originally scheduled for Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Kids River Fest encourages families to spend their Saturday outside in an active and educational way. The event includes hands-on activities as well as shows and musical performances.
Activities for the day are scheduled to include kayaking, fishing, bounce house, planetarium shows, reptile shows, live music, hay rides, crafts and much more.
Sound Rivers will announce the rescheduled date within the week.
