The Ashe County Arts Council is hosting a one-woman exhibit — and that one woman is from Washington.
Watercolorist Gale Champion’s work will be featured in “Mix It Up,” which will be on display through June 3 after an opening reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday night at the Ashe Arts Center Gallery in West Jefferson.
“Champion is known for her detail in her representational watercolor, her unusual webbed backgrounds in her contemporary watercolors and her abstract/impressionistic alcohol inks,” reads an Ashe County Arts County press release. “Her three styles and two mediums combine for a unique and fascinating ‘mix it up’ exhibit.”
Champion’s skill in combining color, shape, light and composition create a work beauty for any viewer, the release further stated.
Champion lives in Washington and is a member of River Walk Gallery and Arts Center, an artists’ co-op and gallery located in downtown Washington. She spends part of her year in the mountains of North Carolina.
