Unity Christian Academy walloped New Life Christian Academy in Rocky Mount, 25-6, on Monday to finish its second-ever season 13-0.
With a perfect season on the line, Grace Rose led off the game with a solo home run. She was 4-for-5 at the dish and batted the cycle. Davis, the team’s lone senior, was 3-for-5 with two doubles. Kayleigh Cobb was perfect on her four at-bats and hit two homers. Paige Sawyer was 3-for-3, and Chloe Boyd went 3-for-4.
Without ace pitcher Macy Main on hand, Boyd, a 7th grader, earned her third win of the season. Sixth graders Megan Jensen and Emily Buck also tossed an inning each, too.
“It was a really fun season,” coach Ashley Harris said. “These girls just didn’t seem to have a breaking point. Different ones just kept stepping up.”
