Saturday Night Jamboree holds annual prom

The Saturday Night Jamboree held its annual Spring Prom recently at the Redmen’s Lodge in Washington. Keeper of the door Russell Jefferson kept a watchful eye outside.

Registrar Carolyn Jefferson signed in 148 clients while faithful volunteers Tillie Braddy pinned on corsages and boutonnieres with loving assistance from Joyce Carawan. Other caring volunteers included Ashley Rommel and Marlene Sprouse, Cecilia Cutler and Kin Wood.

The Lodge was transformed into a wonderful flower garden earlier in the day by Marlene Sprouse, Michael Cutler, Ashley Rommel, Jim Sadler and Tine Woolard. The Jamboree would like to thank The Shalom House for all the wonderful, beautiful ferns they sent. The prom would not look so festive.

Jamboree President Marlene Sprouse led the activities, while photographer Michael Cutler, with assistance from Kaitlyn Cutler, James Sadler, Kathy Lilley and Tine Woolard took photographs of each client in front of a beautiful display. The photos were developed and passed out at the Jamboree meeting.

A special “thank you” to The Little Creek Band who provided music for the prom.

Following a blessing asked by Joseph Cowan, members of The Warren Chapel United Methodist Church from Blount’s Creek prepared and served refreshments. Those helping with serving included: Bill and Jonell Barber, Carla Berg, Betty Bell, Nancy Bennett, Ernest, Patricia Cutler, Lillian Jordan, Keith and Donna Nipple, Derwood, Renae, and Karen Pegram, Jesse and Juanita Tripp, Gilbert and Linda Tripp

The next Jamboree will be June 10, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

All area mentally/physically challenged residents and all volunteers are invited to attend. For more Jamboree information, to volunteer or to make donations, please call Jamboree President Marlene Sprouse at 252-229-7831.
