The crash, which happened around 4:15 p.m., involved a white Buick sedan and a silver Chevy SUV. The SUV was traveling south on U.S. 17 when the sedan attempted to turn onto U.S. 17 Business, causing the SUV to strike the passenger side and spin 180 degrees, according to one driver who saw the crash.

Passengers did suffer injuries, but they appeared to be non-life-threatening, according to firefighter Brian Lanning, of Chocowinity Volunteer Fire Department.
