Washington’s girls’ soccer team gathered recently to celebrate its accomplishments this spring. In its final year in the league, the Lady Pack once again finished undefeated in 2-A Eastern Plains Conference play. It earned the right to host its first-round playoff game, which was a 4-0 win over Bunn. The season ended May 11 in a 2-1 loss to Durham School of the Arts. Senior Sydney Edwards scored 42 goals and assisted on 20 more to earn a myriad of awards including conference player of the year and offensive player of the year. Other all-conference Lady Pack players were Claire Shepherd, Sarah Whitson, Maricela Gutierrez, Maddie Brodie and Jordan Prescott. Shepherd was named Washington’s defensive player of the year. Goalkeeper Julissa Perez, who dazzled all year long, was named most improved. This year’s squad boasted 14 juniors. Among those were captains in Prescott and Brodie. Other standouts set to return a year from now are Anna Frisbie and Sydney Walker.
