P.S. Jones assistant principal Anthony Bailey presented the male and female athlete of the year awards at the Moving Up Ceremony on June 8. Hayden Anderson (left), son of Rick and DeeDee Anderson, was named the top male athlete. Anderson excelled this past year by receiving all-conference, highest academic average and overall most valuable player in football. He had the highest academic average and was MVP in wrestling. In baseball, Anderson had the highest academic average and earned the Winner Award. Mary Emma Holscher (right), daughter of Franz and Emma Holscher, was named female athlete of the year. Holscher was a huge asset to PSJ athletics. She has been recognized as girls’ all-conference and MVP in the last two cross-country seasons. She was named MVP, all-conference and earned the Coach’s Award in the 2015-16 basketball season. In softball, she has earned all-conference honors two years in a row and was this year’s offensive player of the year.
