Saturday Night Jamboree hosts June meeting

The Saturday Night Jamboree held its June meeting recently at the Redmen’s Lodge in Washington. Registrar Carolyn Jefferson signed in 128 clients with loving assistant from Tillie Brady.

While caring volunteer Russell Jefferson kept watch at the door, DJ Redmen member Kenneth Beacham played music for dancing and listening pleasure. Kenneth led the activities, and Martha Seigman and Joyce Carawan led in singing “Happy Birthday” to June honorees. Other regular volunteers included Michael Cutler, Tillie Bradly, Kin Wood, Joyce Carawan, Martha Seigman, Kathy Lilly, James Sadler, Tine Woolard, Velvet Avery and Marvin Alligood.

Refreshments and snacks were provided by Athens Chapel and served by Velvet Avery and the above helpers. Hope Wood said the blessing.

The Jamboree organizers would like to thank all volunteers, organizations, businesses and churches for all of their generous assistance during the year because the Jamboree could not continue without the help of all of our loving volunteers.

The next Jamboree will be the annual Hot Dog Cookout on July 8, beginning earlier this month — from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Redmen’s Lodge. Anyone wishing to volunteer their talent and assistance to the Jamboree may do so by calling Jamboree committee President Marlene Sprouse at 252-946-4350 or by attending the monthly meetings.
