Pamlico Rose Institute hosted an open house Tuesday evening to celebrate its upcoming work in Washington and surrounding areas. PRI is an organization that seeks to serve veterans suffering from PTSD, while also rehabilitating historic structures.

The first project is based in Washington and involves plans to renovate a circa-1890s farmhouse to house four to six female veterans experiencing trauma after substance and/or sexual abuse. The finished home will be named Rose Haven. PRI Chief Executive Officer Rob Sands said he was inspired to begin this work after seeing a need that was not being met in communities.
