Kathryn Baehr Strickland

Kathryn Baehr Strickland died Thursday, July 13, 2017, after a brief illness. She was born April 29, 1952, to Bruce Findlay Baehr (deceased) and Kathryn Baehr Stringham. She graduated from St. Catherine’s School in Richmond, VA and Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. She was active in a number of organizations including Pi Beta Phi Sorority; the National Society of the Colonial Dames; the Junior League of Winston-Salem; the Sans Souci Book Club of Greenville, NC; Friends of the ECU School of Music and the United Way of Pitt County. She is survived by her husband, Claude Barbour Strickland III; a daughter, Blair Strickland Skinner and her husband Shepard of Washington; a son, Thomas Wilson Strickland and his wife Carmel of Wilmington, NC; four grandchildren Robert Daniel Bergevin, Anne Thomas Bergevin, Emory Kathryn Strickland and Mattie Gray Strickland; two sisters, Jennifer Stewart Beckwith of Vero Beach, FL and Emily Findlay Koski of Richmond, VA. A private burial service will be held for the family in Wilmington. The family will receive friends at 8509 Hammock Dunes Drive, Wilmington, Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the National Society of Colonial Dames, 224 Market Street, Wilmington, NC 28401, or to the charity of one’s choice.
