Mrs. Anita Williams Edwards, age 80, a resident of 1155 CC Road, Vanceboro, died Wednesday afternoon August 2, 2017 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday August 5, 2017 at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Rev. Earl Edwards.

Mrs. Edwards was born August 8, 1936 in Beaufort County, daughter of the late Henry Day Williams and Ora Mae Cash Williams. She was married to Oscar L. Edwards who preceded her in death. Mrs. Edwards worked with Sampson’s Shirt Factory and Burroughs Wellcome. She was a kind and caring person, always helping others. She enjoyed travelling especially to the mountains. Mrs. Edwards was a member of Juniper Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Vanceboro.

She is survived by her sisters: Freda Williams Whichard and husband Mickey of Vanceboro, Brenda Daylene Elks of Wilmar and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her son: Roger Anthony Edwards; her brother: Willis Ray Williams and her sister: Edna Mae Anderson.
