Authorities responded to a car accident late Monday morning along U.S. Highway 264 near Page Road.

Clark’s Neck Volunteer Fire Department Capt. Tony Hoell said a man was traveling along the highway when his car “fishtailed,” meaning the rear wheels lost traction and sent the car sliding into the ditch. Heavy rains earlier Monday created wet, slippery roads on the highway and surrounding areas.

North Carolina Highway Patrol also responded to the scene.

The driver, who was not identified, was not injured in the crash. Hoell said there was little damage to the car, and authorities assisted the man in towing it out of the ditch. The car was still drivable, according to Hoell.

There were no other vehicles involved in the crash.
