Mr. Jackie Ray Watters, age 65, a resident of 820 East 6th Street, Washington, died Sunday, August 27, 2017 at his home.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, August 31, 2017 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Phil O’Carroll.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at the home.
Mr. Watters was born in Washington on September 14, 1951. He was the son of the late James William Watters Sr. and Hilda Tetterton Watters. Mr. Watters was a 1969 graduate of Washington High School. He attended Beaufort County Community College and East Carolina University. Mr. Watters worked at Singer Furniture Company, and after college, he worked as a job coach at Beaufort County Developmental Center in Washington as long as his health permitted. He attended the Salvation Army Church in Washington.
On July 3, 1976, Mr. Watters married the former Brenda Rogers, who survives. Surviving with his wife are one son, Jackie Ray Watters Jr. of Raleigh; two brothers, David Watters and wife Elaine of Whiteville, N.C., Curtis Watters and wife Belinda of Corpus Christi, Texas.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Watters was preceded in death by a brother, Rev. James William Watters Jr.
A private burial will take place later.
