The Washington (evening) Rotary Club met Thursday evening at the Washington Yacht & Country Club. After a social period, President Todd Williamson called the meeting to order. Susan Futrell led in the Pledge of Allegiance, and music man Bartow Houston directed in one verse of “America.” Russell Smith gave thanks for the meal. Several members shared in the Health and Happiness report before Dr. Zeno Edwards conducted the Jack of Diamonds fundraiser.

President Williamson called on program chairman Susan Futrell to introduce the speaker. Brownie Futrell came forward and spoke to the club on behalf of his friend Steve Johnson. Steve is better known to many in eastern North Carolina as Uncle Yammy. Uncle Yammy is a delicious barbecue sauce he developed and began marketing in 2002. The product is a direct result of cooking for the neighborhood and being asked for more. Steve is a native of Warsaw but has made Greenville his home for many years. He markets six different Uncle Yammy products that are now sold in over 2,000 stores in three states. The Futrells demonstrated a taste test of all the products much to the pleasure of club members. The evening ended with members reciting the Four Way Test of the things we think, say and do.
