BCCC presents in-person, online open houses

Instructors at Beaufort County Community College will try out a novel approach to the traditional open house.

While instructors from a variety of programs such as business administration, welding and cosmetology will be available in person, they will also use Google Hangouts to connect with students remotely. Students can attend the open house in person at Building 4 between 5 and 7 p.m. on Thursday, or online during those hours.

As an increased number of courses are now offered online, some students rarely set foot on campus. BCCC has students enrolled from across North Carolina. For people with families or jobs that run late into the evening, a traditional open house can be harder to access. This new format for an open house will allow greater participation.

Potential students can still visit with faculty to clarify concerns about careers, and prerequisites for programs or for future degrees. Instructors will help attendees figure out which program is the best fit for them. Instructors from mechanical engineering technology, welding, medical laboratory technology, business administration, cosmetology, law enforcement training, automotive technology, agribusiness technology, computer information technology and programming, criminal justice, electrical engineering technology and medical office administration will be available.
