Luther Paul Lewis

Luther “Luke” Paul Lewis, age 40, a resident of 223 Hodges Road, Chocowinity, died Saturday, October 21, 2017.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Washington Assembly of God, with Pastor Daniel Haskett officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the church from 12:30 until 2:00 PM and other times at the home in Chocowinity. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.

Luther was born June 1, 1977 in Beaufort County, the son of Luther Gary Lewis and Dorothy Alligood Lewis. He had a heart of gold along with a great love for animals, which a lot of them became his pets. Luther had a strong love for his family and enjoyed nothing better than playing and spending time with his nephews and niece. When it came to work, he was a pure logger at heart, as was his family’s long tradition of the logging industry, and though it was hard work, he never gave up on wanting the continue what his family had done for decades. He will be truly missed by his family and all that knew him.

Mr. Lewis is survived by his mother: Dorothy Alligood Lewis of Chocowinity; his father: Luther Gary Lewis of Greenville; a sister: Christina Crisp and husband Bobby of Washington; two brothers: Matthew Lewis and wife Christie of Washington and Stephen Tyler Thorp of Raleigh; four nephews: Jacob Pyle, Chase Dixon, Michael Dixon and Bobby Crisp II and a niece: Olivia Dale Lewis.
