Mr. Paul Leroy Barrett Jr., age 77, a resident of 265 McGowan Road, Bath, died Saturday, November 3, 2017 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, November 6, 2017 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington, conducted by Craig Hagen. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington,

The following will serve as active pallbearers: Roger Braddy, Rodney Braddy, Terry Smith, A.T. Waters, Chase Cox, Donnie Cutler and Mike Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be Gordon Pippin, Elwood Swain, Kent Gurganus, Ted Baynor and Jerry Modlin.

Mr. Barrett was born in Beaufort County on August 24, 1940. He was the son of the late Paul Leroy Barrett Sr. and Helen Brooks Barrett. Mr. Barrett worked in the construction and real estate business for over 40 years. He owned and operated Barrett Family Restaurant in Plymouth and Sidney Crossroads for 20 years. Mr. Barrett was a member of St. Clair’s Church of Christ. He was a classic car collector. In his spare time, Mr. Barrett enjoyed fishing.

In 1959, he married the former Neta “Ann” Braddy, who survives.

Surviving with his wife are a son, Tim Barrett of Atlanta, Ga.; three grandsons, Bradley Tetterton of the home, Jacob and Jeremiah Barrett, both of Atlanta; three sisters, Mary Cox and husband, Clifton Ray of Fairfield, N.C., Betty Haughton of Greenville, Pauline Ange of Farmville; and his favorite pets, Cheeta and Buddy.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Barrett was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Tetterton; grandson, Jeremy Tetterton; sister, Jean Waters; and three brothers, Wayne Barrett, Bud Barrett and James Barrett.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at his home, 265 McGowan Road, Bath.
