Michael was born in Beaufort County on May 29, 1965, son of William Isaac Nobles and Erma Woolard Nobles. He was an unsung hero, helping people in need and never expecting anything in return. He volunteered during the 1999 flood, trucked supplies to New Orleans and other places during emergencies and helped at Eagle’s Wings food pantry. Michael was very creative and shared his talents and knowledge of plants and flowers and his flair for decorating, fashion and hairstyling.
He was the former owner of Bella Salon in Greenville.
Michael is survived by his mother and stepfather: Erma Nobles and Dennis Smith of Washington; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. He is preceded in death by his father: William Isaac “PeeWee” Nobles and his brother: Martin Wade Nobles. The family would also like to express their appreciation to Community Home Care & Hospice and caregivers: Libby Hyman and Sylvia Wallace. His “Mama” was his best friend, along with his stepfather, Dennis Smith.
Michael had a love for animals especially dogs and horses. His Jack Russell Terriers, Dory, Roley and Thomas were his world. He was active in the Freedom for Friends organization, which installs fences to keep dogs from being kept on chains.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in memory of Michael to Freedom for Friends, P.O. Box 2992, Washington, NC 27889.
