The Major Reading Blount Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met Oct. 18, at the Brown Library in Washington. Regent Reid Solomon called the meeting to order and led the ritual. Chapter officers and committee chairmen presented reports. The President General’s Message was noted: “none of us can achieve alone more than when we work together.”

Vice Regent Connye Dillon introduced Greg Clark, a volunteer at Tryon Palace in New Bern and a member of the 1st Regiment of the Continental Line. Clark instructed the group on the daily life and duties of a Revolutionary War soldier. Clark was in full regimental dress and explained the purposes of the design of his uniform and the equipment he carried. Registrar Betsy Lee Hodges invited members to the Veterans Day Service Nov. 11 at Veteran’s Park.

The next meeting of the chapter will be at Brown Library Nov. 15.
