On Nov. 18, the St. John Church of Christ hosted its annual turkey giveaway in Washington. The event was held in association with the Community Assistance Rural Empowerment (C.A.R.E.) organization to distribute more than 450 turkeys to residents of Beaufort County and surrounding areas. The C.A.R.E organization donated 25 turkeys to Salvation Army and 25 to the Department of Social Services for distribution to needy families. This project was spearheaded by the Missionary Ministry of St. John Church of Christ. St. John’s Pastor Russell Wilkins champions this event as an opportunity to demonstrate the importance of helping others, especially during this Thanksgiving season.
