Mr. William Gray Beacham, age 68, a resident of Paul’s Place, Grimesland, NC, died Saturday, November 25, 2017 at his residence. William was born September 23, 1949 to the late Alma Harris Beacham and Richard Beacham in Beaufort County, NC. He served his country in the US Army and was a brick mason with R.E. Harris Mason Contractors. On August 24, 1970 William married the former Peggy Schmidt. He loved fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James Earl, Richard Beacham and Robert Beacham. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Schmidt Beacham; two daughters, Sharon Marie Birmingham and Tonya Valerie Webb, both of Greenville, NC; one son, William Gray Beacham Jr. of Grimesland; one sister, Alma B. White of Grimesland; one brother, David Beacham of Vanceboro, NC; seven grandchildren, Eric Jr., Trent, Wyatt, Breanna, Herbert, Lillian and Tori, six great-grandchildren, Malorie, Jacob, Wyatt Jr., Hailey, Oliver and Owen. A graveside celebration of William’s life with Military Honors will be held 4:00 pm, Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Homestead Memorial Park, Greenville, with Pastor Ric Watford officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 2:00-3:30 pm at Hillside Funeral Service and travel in procession to the grave. Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 Hwy 264 East, Washington, has been given the honor of being entrusted with serving the Beacham family.
