Tyrrell County Schools’ finance officer Carolyn Simmons, CPA, and her staff were commended on December 4 by Donna Winborne, CPA, the school district’s auditor, for a job well done.

“This is one of the best audits I have seen from Tyrrell County Schools,” Winborne told the Tyrrell County Board of Education when she presented her audit report for the 2016-17 fiscal year.

The auditor gave an unqualified opinion on the financial reports of the school system, the highest level issued.

Winborne, a Virginia Tech graduate, is a certified public accountant holding certificates and licenses in North Carolina and Virginia. Her offices are in Edenton.
