Updates on Beaufort County outages, closures

Beaufort County received between 5-6 inches of snow overnight, according to early estimates.

10:00 a.m. update:

Power: Power has been restored to 694 of 1,000 Tideland Electric customers in Beaufort County on the Lowland circuit. According to outage maps, 31 customers in the Belhaven area were without power along with 979 customers on the south side of the Pamlico River in the Aurora area. Crews are working on restoring power to the remaining 286 customers without power, as of 9:30 a.m. View Tideland EMC’s outage map HERE.

Roads: Beaufort County roadways, including U.S. and N.C. routes and secondary roads are covered with snow and ice, according to the NCDOT. Motorists are encouraged to stay off roadways. For updated NCDOT travel information, click HERE.

Closures: Beaufort County Schools (students and staff), Washington Montessori Charter School (students and staff ), Beaufort County Community College, Pungo Christian Academy, Beaufort County Developmental Center, Beaufort Area Transit System, Beaufort County Government offices, Beaufort County Court, Beaufort County Courthouse.
